The VAYU PYRO is a particularly interesting parawing, developed for riders who want to take the downwind foil and hands-free surfing concept even further. Vayu has therefore focused on an ultra-light, compact and easy-to-manage construction, featuring a single-skin canopy and short bridles.
On the water, one of its main strengths is its direct and calm handling. The Bridge Bar system provides a feeling that is fairly close to a wingfoil boom, making the transition to parawinging relatively intuitive for riders accustomed to wingfoiling. The short lines, around 1.3 to 1.5 m depending on the size, also reduce clutter and make it easier to pack the wing away once you want to switch to downwind mode.
Upwind performance is probably one of its biggest strengths. The PYRO has a well-balanced profile and can sail efficiently upwind with a relatively small size. It may provide enough power to use a smaller size than some competing parawings in the same conditions. However, this strong power also means that it can reach its upper wind limit more quickly when heavily powered.
Once you are flying, the PYRO becomes particularly interesting. It is designed to be quickly depowered, packed away and redeployed, which perfectly matches the philosophy of parawinging: sail upwind, find a good swell line, stow the wing and continue foiling hands-free. The small backpack supplied with the wing is also a real advantage for carrying the parawing during long downwind sections.
