Vayu EOS V3

The VAYU EOS V3 is a wing that stands out above all for its compact, direct and highly responsive character. With this third generation, Vayu has clearly focused on improving the rigidity of the structure while keeping the wing lightweight and easy to handle. The construction, which combines an Aluula section in the central part of the leading edge with TRI-FORM 3X technology and a new Z-Strut, provides excellent stiffness without adding unnecessary weight. In the hands, the feeling is immediate: the wing feels small, compact and highly connected to the rider, with very little inertia when changing direction.

On the water, the EOS V3 offers a good balance between power and control. It generates power easily when pumping and allows the rider to get going early, while maintaining excellent stability as the wind increases. Its balanced profile and rigid structure also give it very good upwind performance. Power delivery is fairly consistent, and the wing remains comfortable in gusty conditions, with a natural tendency to maintain speed rather than deform. However, it is not specifically designed as a pure light-wind wing: when it comes to getting going in the minimum wind with a large foil, other models in the Vayu range, such as the AURA V4, may have an advantage.

One of the EOS V3’s main strengths is undoubtedly its handling. Its reduced wingspan allows it to move very quickly from one side to the other and greatly reduces the risk of the wing tips touching the water. In both jibes and tacks, the wing naturally follows the rider’s movement and quickly repositions itself. This compact feeling becomes particularly interesting during more committed manoeuvres, where the EOS V3 responds instantly to the rider’s movements. The Click Boom further enhances this feeling of direct connection and provides very precise control, which is particularly appreciated in fast freeride and freestyle riding.

The EOS V3 is also very convincing when jumping. The rigidity of the structure allows the wing to maintain good pressure and generate plenty of lift. Once airborne, its compact shape makes rotations and changes of position easier, while the stability of the structure allows the rider to maintain precise control right through to the landing. It is a wing that quickly makes you want to push your manoeuvres a little further and feels particularly at home in a dynamic freeride, freestyle and jumping programme.

In waves, the EOS V3 remains perfectly capable, particularly thanks to its compact size and its tips, which remain relatively easy to control when the wing is neutralized. It can therefore comfortably accompany a rider in surf and swell conditions, but its character remains more present than that of a true wave- or downwind-oriented wing. The difference is quite clear: with the EOS V3, you retain more of a feeling of actively controlling the wing, whereas a model such as the AURA is designed to disappear more from the rider’s hands and leave all the focus on the foil and the surf.

Overall, the VAYU EOS V3 is a particularly successful wing for riders looking for a versatile wing with a clear performance-oriented character. It combines good power, excellent upwind performance, a very strong top-end range and, above all, remarkable handling. Its stiff and lightweight construction gives it a very direct feel, while its compact shape makes it particularly enjoyable for manoeuvres and jumping. It may not be the ultimate wing for pure downwind or wave riding, but for a programme combining freeride, speed, jumps and freestyle, the EOS V3 offers an excellent balance between performance and ease of use.
